Full course outline (PDF) click here

This course is designed for healthcare professionals looking for a revision of the practical application of massage and therapists practicing sports massage who wish to further develop their skills.  The course has been extremely well received by a wide variety of people including Chartered and Sports Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, coaches and those trained in other soft tissue techniques.

Delegates can consolidate their skills at their own pace and be challenged to explore new techniques and treatment delivery.  The focus is on the utility of sports massage within all environments, drawing on the tutor’s experience of supporting elite athletes over 10 years.

It is a largely practical course with plenty of individual attention for all candidates.  The tutor explores the effects and utility of each technique, demonstrates the application and then allows candidates time to practice and explore their own delivery in realistic scenarios.
The basic techniques of palpation, effleurage, petrissage, tapotement and frictions will be covered on day one with major muscle groups covered to ensure confidence in the key skills.  On day two, the advanced techniques of trigger pointing (neuromuscular techniques), muscle energy techniques and soft tissue release will be covered.  The second day develops confidence through tutor led scenarios, including working against the clock and floor based treatments.

Additional one day workshops will soon be added to the programme.
